Met zeven Olivier Awards (uit tien nominaties), de belangrijkste Britse Theaterprijzen, behaalde de musical Matilda een record. De veelgeroemde musical, gebaseerd op het boek van Roald Dahl, stal de show bij de uitreiking van de prijzen. De vier meisjes die afwisselend de hoofdrol vertolken kregen alle vier de prijs voor beste musicalactrice.
