Tom Cruise mogelijk met Beyoncé in nieuwe Clint Eastwood musical-film A Star Is Born
Al enige tijd geleden werd bekend dat Clint Eastwood werkt aan een nieuwe musical-film, A Star is Born. Die film liep vertraging op door de zwangerschap van beoogd hoofdrolspeler Beyoncé Knowles. Nu zij is bevallen, lijkt de film weer doorgang te gaan vinden en is producent Warner Bros op zoek naar een mannelijke hoofdrolspeler.
Belangrijkste kandidaat lijkt Tom Cruise te zijn. Variety meldt dat Warner Bros. Cruise aan het polsen is om de rol te accepteren en hij daar niet afwijzend tegenover zou staan. Het zou voor Cruise de tweede musical in korte tijd worden, na Rock of Ages.
In A Star is Born worden de dromen van een gewoon meisje werkelijkheid wanneer ze de filmindustrie weet binnen te komen en een schijnbaar perfect huwelijk aangaat met een Hollywoodberoemdheid. Maar terwijl de ster van deze jonge vrouw begint te rijzen, zinkt echtgenoot Norman Maine steeds verder weg in drankzucht en misère.
I usually look forward to the latest Clint Eastwood projects-this guy is a legend and a lesson to all of us “oldies” ! However I am losing interest in this one fast. First-do we really need yet another version of this story? This will be the fourth time around! And setting it once again in the music world (ala the Streisand version) is a bad idea.Let us remember that this began as movie called “What Price Hollywood” and not “Tin Pan Alley!”
Now we are threatened with Tom Cruise as the tragic lead. Oh please! can someone please explain to me how this guy keeps getting work? He is so weird. Trying to interview him is impossible; he seems unable to behave and answer normally,his Scientology thing is out of hand and a check of his recent movies (anything he has made since the “Ophra fiasco” demonstrates that this handsome dwarf is useless at anything that is not called “Mission Impossible”! One other thing: Clint better arrange for a chase sequence in this movie because if there is one common denominator in all this guy’s films it is that sooner or later he always ends up chasing someone! Oh! and another thing; CAN HE SING?!
